The OVIE MUGHELLI PROJECT

Ovie Phillip Mughelli began his career as a Fullback for the Baltimore Ravens as the 134th overall pick (4th round) of the 2003 NFL Draft. In 2007, Mughelli signed a blockbuster 6-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, landing him with the highest paid contract offered to a pure fullback yet. Prior to joining the ranks of the NFL, Mughelli attended the exclusive Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, SC and was a letterman in football, basketball, tennis, and track & field. Ovie subsequently attended Wake Forest University where he majored in Health and Exercise Science, while he continued to play football and maintain Dean's List status..

The 4th year NFL veteran has committed himself to developing his off the field ventures involving philanthropy and giving back to the community.  Ovie is the Founder and Chairman of the Ovie Mughelli Project, established in 2007 with a mission to improve the quality of life for underprivileged youth in his hometown of Charleston, SC; the city of Baltimore, MD where he served as a Baltimore Raven from 2003-2006; and Atlanta, GA where he recently signed a 6-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons.  

The objective of the Ovie Mughelli Project is to support underprivileged youth through education, health and sports initiatives, and will include the following:    

• Implementation of summer football camps and educational programs for boys and girls.
• Scheduling of appearances throughout the year to visit youth in underserved educational districts.
• Collaboration with other athletes to perform local community service and fundraising projects to benefit select youth programs.
• Supporting community based youth organizations that address the health and social concerns threatening the lives of at risk youth.

The Ovie Mughelli Project maintains its status as a project of Congressional District Programs and is a 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1) federal tax exemption organization via the Congressional District Programs.  The Ovie Mughelli Project is also an affiliate of Athletes for Charity (www.athletesforcharity.com), a New York based organization aimed at supporting the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of Athletes of all genres, by providing avenues for the exchange of information, fundraising assistance, and the coordination of community service and development initiatives.
